Descent: FreeSpace - 7/10
This new venture from the makers of Descent places you as
a pilot in a intergalactic war. Your job as a green
cadet is to defend the Galactic Terran Alliance from
the Vasudans.
With the setting out in space, you are not affected by
wandering through a 3D environment. Many found this too
nauseating to play. This game resembles the Wing
commander Series with a few improvements. The H.U.D. is
more pleasing and the cockpit view is not blocked by your
cockpit. All your sensors and gauges are transparent,
allowing you greater vision. The maneuvering is different
with vector thrusting and inertia from other simulations.
Overall this is a great space adventure with a great plot
and ideas. There are about 8 ships and 25 different
weapons to choose from, none are revolutionary, but they
get the job done.
